TiVo (TIVO) - Get Report was up 9.7% in preopen Instinet trading after posting a second-quarter loss late Thursday of 82 cents a share, narrower than Street expectations of 94 cents and the year-ago period's loss of $1.09.

The company, which offers a personal digital video recording service, reported revenue of $4.1 million, up from $869,000 a year ago and first quarter revenue of $3.2 million. TiVo said it added 40,000 new subscribers, for a total of 229,000.
