HP offered no explanation for the resignation, which leaves the company¿s board with 10 members.
Perkins is a founder of venture capital firm Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers and a former HP executive. He retired from HP's board in 2004 but returned early last year as the board was struggling with then-CEO Carly Fiorina, who was soon fired.

The company¿s shares ended Friday down 46 cents at $32.02.
