Tellabs (TLAB) was down 1% in early trading after saying it will pay $181 million in cash for Future Networks, a maker of voice and cable modems. Tellabs, a telecom equipment company, said the deal will dilute earnings by 1 cent per share in 2001 and add to the bottom line thereafter, not counting goodwill. Including goodwill, the deal will dilute earnings in both 2001 and 2002.
