Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Synopsys shares were recently off trading down 23 cents, or 0.9%, to $26.80.

ArchPro sells software tools that verify power management designs of multi-voltage chips, before fabrication at 90 and 65 nanometers. Electronic design automation software developer Synopsys provides tools for low-power designs.

ArchPro was founded in 2005 with funding from Intel Capital and Sage Technology Ventures. STV's Pratap Reddy, a former Synopsys executive, is ArchPro's CEO and chairman.
