Internet equipment maker Sycamore Networks (SCMR) was down 25.5% in preopen Island trading after it warned late Thursday that third-quarter earnings and revenue will be lower than expected due to weak customer orders.

The company also said it would lay off 140 employees.

Sycamore expects a loss of 16 to 19 cents a share, vs. a 5-cent profit expected by analysts.
