Shares of Palm hit their highest level in more than year on Monday, after an analyst report said the launch of the Pre, the much-hyped new smart phone, appeared to be on track for early June. The Pre is similar to

Apple's

iPhone, but has a slide-out keyboard.

Palm had said previously it would launch the Pre through Sprint before the end of June.

The shares rose during the day to $12.10, the highest level since October 2007.
