Sierra Wireless Gives Mixed Outlook for 2001

, a Canadian provider of wireless data communications equipment, said earnings for the first half of 2001 should meet or beat Wall Street's estimates, but the company provided a second-half forecast that would come in below analysts' expectations.
Sierra Wireless expects to report earnings of $660,000, or 4 cents a share, in the first quarter, on revenue of $22 million. The company expects to report second-quarter earnings of $727,000, or 4 cents a share, with revenue of $28.4 million.

For the third quarter, the company projected earnings of $1.1 million, or 6 cents a share, on revenue of $31.6 million. Sierra forecast fourth-quarter income of $1.8 million, or 10 cents a share, and $37.9 million in revenue. Finally, the company projected earnings of $4.2 million, or 24 cents a share, on revenue of $120 million, for the year.
