Siebel Systems Revenue Surprises
The software company's fourth-quarter sales are better than analysts expected.

Wednesday preannounced stronger-than-expected fourth-quarter revenue.
The San Mateo, Calif.-based software company said it expects revenue of approximately $387 million to $390 million. The consensus estimate is for $347.2 million, according to Thomson First Call.
Siebel also expects license revenue for the quarter to be approximately $159 million to $161 million.
Operating margin for the fourth quarter of 2004 is expected to be 15% to 16% of total revenue, a 90% increase over the third quarter of 2004.
Siebel reports full earnings on Jan. 27, when it will also provide first-quarter guidance.
Shares rose 31 cents, or 3.1%, to $10.19.
