Siebel Falls on Warning Despite Beating Estimates


Siebel Systems (SEBL) was down 7% in preopen Island trading after the software company warned its fourth-quarter earnings would be 4 cents lower than the year-ago period as a result of the economic downturn.

The company posted second-quarter earnings of 15 cents a share, beating analysts' estimates of 13 cents and up from the year-ago figure of 10 cents. Revenue also outstripped analysts' projections slightly to $549.7 million.
