Shamrock denies press report of plan to bid for Bank Leumi

Comfy's Mordechai may want to buy Leumi but not with the Disney firm, as Yedioth wrote

Representatives of the Shamrock Holdings group today denied a report in the Israeli press of intentions to compete over the controlling interest in Bank Leumi.

Shamrock will not be contending directly nor through Comfy, a Tel Aviv-listed company under its control, sources near the Disney family's investment firm told

Yedioth Ahronoth reported today that teaming up with Israeli businessman Mordechai Yona to bid for a controlling interest in Leumi. The move would be effected through Comfy and other companies under Yona's control, Yedioth wrote.

The paper also reported that Yona is negotiating to buy a 5% Leumi interest held by Otsar Hityashvut Hayehudim. The stake is worth about NIS 600 million.

Yona may well aspire to take over Leumi, but it won't be with Shamrock, evidently.
