Shamrock Holdings, Israeli businessman Alfred Akirov, Polar Investments and an unnamed British investment company have begun talks to buy control over Ampal American Israel Corporation (Nasdaq:AMPL), Ma'ariv reports.

Ampal's shareholders assess its value for the deal at $200 million, some 10% above its book value and 2.5 times its market cap.

Shamrock, a Disney family company chaired by Stanley Gold, reportedly wants to use Ampal as a platform to invest in Israeli hi-tech and real estate.
