Scientific Atlanta (SFA) was down 25.2% in preopen Instinet trading. After the close Thursday the maker cable TV set-top boxes posted fourth-quarter earnings of 48 cents per share excluding charges, edging the Thomson Financial/First Call estimate of 47 cents.

But revenue decreased 6.6% from the previous quarter and the sunscriber business slowed, with 1.25 million set-top box shipments in the quarter compared to 1.4 million in the March quarter.

Prudential Securities cut its earnings estimates, lowered its rating to hold from buy and dropped its price target to $30 from $50.
