The software giant's comments come after a rash of warnings hits the sector.

reassured nervous software investors Thursday, saying it doesn't plan to preannounce before it posts first-quarter numbers next week.
The comments come after a host of software companies big and small have warned in recent weeks of soft numbers.

In saying it won't warn, SAP joins
Computer Associates
(CA) - Get Report
, which earlier this week reaffirmed its pro forma guidance.
Shares of SAP dropped 51 cents Thursday to $37.94 ahead of the postclose remarks.
