said third-quarter earnings fell 5% and the business management software maker canceled its sales forecast for the rest of 2008.
Earnings in the quarter were 388 million euros, a decrease from 408 million euros a year earlier. Total revenue rose to 2.8 billion euros from 2.4 billion euros.
SAP previously said it expected 2008 non-GAAP software and software-related service revenue to increase at the upper end of the range of 24% to 27%. But SAP said late Monday "in light of the uncertainties surrounding the current economic and business environment," it will no longer provide a specific revenue outlook.
SAP did say, however, that with cost savings initiatives in place it expects its 2008 non-GAAP operating margin to be around 28%, excluding a writedown from its acquisition of Business Objects and acquisition-related charges.
