) -- Lawyers for
a patent dispute deal that would allow Samsung to launch the Galaxy Tab 10.1 device in Australia, according to a report.
If the agreement is accepted by Apple, the tablet could launch next week, a Samsung attorney told
Dow Jones Newswires
after a hearing in Federal Court in Sydney..
The details of the agreement weren't clear. But Apple attorney Stephen Burley said there was some potential benefit from an agreement.
"(Samsung's) inconvenience would be diminished and we would be comforted" by such a deal, he told
David Catterns, the Samsung attorney, said the deal would allow the company to sell its new tablet computer ahead of the Christmas sales period.
In Australia, Apple is seeking a temporary sales injunction against Samsung's Galaxy Tablet. Apple has
, claiming Samsung's smartphones and tablets copy Apple's iPhone and iPad.
