OSI Systems Gets FAA Order for Body-Scanning Systems

received an order for five body-scanning systems from the Federal Aviation Administration.

OSI's Rapiscan unit said the government will study the systems for use at airport security checkpoints. The company said the systems are used for detecting contraband and are effective against plastic, ceramics, graphite and glass.

Several of the systems, called Secure 1000, are currently used by U.S. Customs at several airports.
