, the Japanese maker of the Wii game console, said profit in the April to December period fell 9.4% as sales declined 23%.
Nintendo said profit for the nine-months period was 192.6 billion yen ($2.13 billion), down from 212.5 billion yen a year earlier. Sales fell to 1.18 trillion yen. Operating profit was 296.7 billion yen, down 41%.
Strong holiday-period sales were offset by a weak first half of the year and a stronger yen, the company said.
Nintendo sold globally 17.05 million Wii game consoles in the period, down from 20.52 million units sold a year earlier.
Nintendo said it operating-profit forecast for the fiscal year ending in March remained unchanged at 370 billion yen.
