The Sunnyvale, Calif., maker of data storage systems said that before the items, it earned $7.7 million, or 2 cents a share, in the latest quarter compared with earnings of $36.9 million, or 10 cents a share, last year. Analysts were expecting the company to break even on a per-share basis in the most recent quarter.
Network Appliance's chief executive told
that he sees sales and earnings flat in the current quarter, although he's hopeful the company will be profitable.
Sales in the latest quarter were $194.7 million compared with $200.4 million a year ago. The company's bottom-line loss was $11.2 million, or 3 cents a share, in the second quarter.
