NetIQ (NTIQ) was up 13.6% in late morning after it posted net earnings late Wednesday of $7.5 million, or 14 cents a share, up from $4.3 million, or 14 cents a share, in the year-earlier period. The consensus estimate published by Thomson Financial/First Call is 12 cents.
The business software company said revenue for the fourth quarter was $58.6 million, compared with $20.3 million for the same period last year.
Earnings excluding charges for 2001 were 63 cents a share, beating analysts' estimates of 61 cents, on revenue of $166.9 million, compared with $47.9 million for fiscal 2000.
