The New York digital communications company agreed to provide network infrastructure and transit services to AOL in the U.K. and Germany. The company will provide bandwidth over which audio, video and other data-rich applications will run.

Metromedia's shares recently were gaining 7 cents, or 11%, to 72 cents on Instinet.
