was down 2.4% in midmorning after opening higher. Investors were awaiting the company's earnings, due after the close, for more clues about the future of the optics sector.
The group took a slam Wednesday after
reported disappointing sales growth. The Street expects JDS Uniphase to report earnings of 16 cents per share vs. 8 cents a year ago. Nortel was up 1.5%.
