JDA Software Sees First Quarter Topping Estimates
JDA Software
(JDAS)
said it expects to beat analyst estimates for the first quarter due in part to better-than-expected license sales.
In a press release, the software company said that its CEO would announce at a conference that preliminary earnings per share, excluding charges, would be 19 cents to 20 cents, up 20% from 16 cents a share in the year-ago period. Analysts polled by Thomson Financial/First Call had been expecting the company to earn 17 cents a share.
Net income after charges for the quarter is expected to be 15 cents to 16 cents a share, up from 9 cents last year.
The company said its software licensing revenue grew 80% over last year, bringing total product sales for the quarter to an estimated $32.5 million, 30% above last year's sales. Total revenue for the quarter is expected to be about $59 million, up 21% from $48.8 million last year and ahead of the First Call estimate of $56.94 million.
Shares of JDA closed at $28.10 Monday before the news release.
