fans eagerly awaiting the

new iPhone 4.

online tracking system crashed yesterday according to media reports, leaving many Apple customers pondering the whereabouts of their little smartphone bundles of joy.

reported that many anxious iPhone customers bombarded the FedEx site for delivery updates. The good news: the new iPhones are expected to arrive on time.

"Package deliveries are proceeding as normal, however tracking updates are temporarily being delayed," explained a note that appeared on the FedEx Web site on Wednesday. "Please try back later."

By this morning, Apple fans on

were eagerly anticipating the delivery of their new iPhones, and tweets suggested that they were able to track their orders.

"My iPhone 4 is on a FedEx truck," said one. "Drive fast, delivery man, drive fast."

"On FedEx vehicle for delivery," added another. "In all the volumes of English literature has a sweeter sentence ever been written? Methinkst not."
