Internet Security Systems (ISSX) was up 10% in midmorning after it exceeded lowered profit estimates and offered a bright forecast for the current quarter.

The maker of security software posted third-quarter earnings of 2 cents per share before items related to downsizing and an acquisition. Analysts were estimating break-even results after the company trimmed its outlook early this month.

The company said its fourth-quarter results before special items would probably be 7 to 10 cents per share, meeting or exceeding analysts' expectations, which range from break-even to 7 cents per share.
