Yedioth Ahronoth

today reports.

The army plans to deploy 1,000 km of optic fibers over five years to connect 400 new army bases and camps to the all-IDF computer communication network. The IDF already has a fiber optic network of some 2,200 km.

The cost of the project is predicted to come to several hundreds of millions of shekels over the next few years.

The IDF is expected to carry out much of the project itself, but will probably be offering large parts of the project to the business sector.
