SAN FRANCISCO -- Buy before and sell after. That appears to be one strategy investors are taking with companies presenting at the Goldman Sachs Technology Investment Symposium. Both Texas Instruments (TXN) - Get Report and Microsoft (MSFT) - Get Report have given back gains made this morning following appearances at the conference.

Texas Instruments was 11/16 higher at 87 5/8, but off its high of 91 1/4 made around 10:35 a.m. EST. TI began its presentation around 10 a.m. Microsoft gave a breakfast presentation and reached a high of 164 3/8 this morning, but recently was down 1 at 159. Both stocks have been bounced around by choppy market conditions as a whole and some of the slippage could be due to nervousness in the high-tech sector as well.

Shares of

Gateway 2000

(GTW)

are flourishing following a well-received

presentation. Gateway is up 2 3/8 at 74.
