NEW YORK (TheStreet) -- Gogo (GOGO) - Get Report was jumping 6.3% to $29.39 in afternoon trading on speculation the Federal Communications Commission will allow in-flight cell-phone calls.

Steve Nolan, Gogo's communications director, in a phone interview, said the decision was more about picocells being added to the airplanes than anything to do with Gogo's technology. Gogo's technology doesn't rely on picocells which are small cellular-stations used extend coverage and add network capacity.

Gogo, which provides in-flight Internet connectivity, recently launched a new app that would by-pass this technology allowing customers to text and talk on a plane. Nolan declined to comment on why shares were rising.
