CEO and chief architect of the webOS platform Jon Rubenstein has left

While webOS was HP's attempt at breaking into the smartphone and tablet market where it has lagged behind rivals

failed to gain traction with its TouchPad device
After HP scrapped webOS, Rubenstein--a former Apple exec-- was moved to a new role within the company's Personal Systems Group.
Shares of HP fell 0.5% to $27.86 in afternoon trading on Friday.
