Fairchild Semiconductor Falls 4.9% on Forecast

Fairchild Semiconductor

was down 4.9% in early trading after striking a 52-week low of $15.13. The company forecast that its 2001 sales would grow 20%, in line with expected growth rates in the semiconductor market. It also said sales in the first quarter of 2001 may decline from the fourth quarter.

Other chipmakers were mixed.
