The European Union has decided to increase its financial support of the Middle East at the expense of eastern Europe, Ma'ariv reports.

Italy will be allocating $50 million for investment in Israel and the Palestinian Authority, the paper writes.

It also reported that Italian foreign trade minister Adolfo Urso called the Middle East the most dangerous region in the world. Urso said the EU will be setting up a special fund, or aid agency, to handle subsidies for the region.
