fell in early trading Monday after a European court upheld a huge 2004 antitrust ruling against the software giant.
The European Union's Court of First Instance ruled that Microsoft had "abused its dominant position" and affirmed a $700 million judgment against the company.
"It's clearly very important to us as a company that we comply with our obligations under European law," Microsoft said. "We'll study this decision carefully, and if there are additional steps that we need to take in order to comply with it, we will take them."
Shares fell 39 cents to $28.65.
