Online retailer Egghead.com (EGGS) was down 20% in early afternoon trading after it said a hacker had breached its computer systems and possibly its customer database. The company, which sells software, said it hired a computer security firm to help investigate and is taking steps to protect customers' credit. Several other Internet retailers were higher as the holiday season wound down.
