Digital River Rises on Upgrade, Outlook

Digital River (DRIV) - Get Report was up 25.8% in early trading after Prudential raised it to strong buy from accumulate and said the company may become profitable sooner than the fourth quarter of 2001, which is the goal stated by management. Prudential also adjusted its full-year loss estimate to 26 cents per share from 40 cents. The moves came a day after the online commerce services company said it expects to post a 1-cent profit for the fourth quarter of 2000 excluding amortization of goodwill. The First Call/Thomson Financial estimate is for a 21-cent loss.
