Digital Lightwave (DIGL) , a maker of equipment for the fiber-optic networking, was up 30% in preopen Island trading after posting first-quarter earnings late Tuesday of 27 cents a share, beating analysts' expectations of 21 cents and up sharply from 8 cents in the year-ago period.

First-quarter revenue was $34.4 million, up 85% from the $18.6 million for the same period last year.
