said its $26 million acquisition of a company that makes electronic voting machines has been delayed.
The North Canton, Ohio, bank machine company said its purchase of Global Election Systems Inc. still requires the satisfaction of "certain closing conditions."
Diebold said it now expects to complete the acquisition in the first quarter of 2002. The pact had been scheduled to close by the end of 2001.
Diebold shares fell 35 cents to $40.44 on Monday.
