Delek Automotive Systems, importer of Mazda and Ford vehicles, apparently made much hay from the hi-tech boom of 2000, as hi-tech companies splurged on new cars.
During 2000 the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange-traded Delek Automotive sold 24,700 Mazdas and 8,900 Fords. Sales grew by 54% to NIS 3.06 billion. Operating profit leaped 93% to NIS 317.4 million, and net profit jumped 75% to NIS 199 million.
Sales in the fourth quarter of 2000 totaled NIS 760 million, 26% above the parallel quarter in 1999. Net profit came to NIS 50.6 million, 54% higher than the fourth quarter in 1999.
Delek Automotive is controlled by Delek Investments and Properties of the Delek group, which is controlled by Yitzhak Tshuva.
