Dallas Semiconductor Chairman/CEO Prothro Dies

said C.V. Prothro, the company's chairman, president and chief executive, died today after suffering a heart attack. He was 58 years old.
The company said Prothro had no known history of heart problems.

Prothro founded Dallas Semiconductor in 1984 and has served as chairman, president and CEO since that time. The company's board will be meeting soon to work through the process of naming a successor.
Shares of Dallas Semiconductor were halted for news at $36.88 before the market closed.
