Revenue is expected to be either above or at the high end of its projected 5% to 10% increase over the second quarter's $73.67 million. The company posted a loss of $2.8 million, or 9 cents a share, on revenue of $53 million in last year's third quarter.

Cymer didn't provide an estimate for net income or earnings per share. Analysts expect the company to earn 19 cents a share. The company will report its results on Oct. 22.

Looking ahead, Cymer expects fourth-quarter revenue to be lower than the third quarter's, due to slowing semiconductor demand and reduced industry capital spending.

The company's shares were down 3.3% recently at $21.85. San Diego-based Cymer is a source of supplies to the semiconductor industry.
