Comverse Technology subsidiary Starhome cuts workforce by 17%
Comverse (Nasdaq: CMVT) subsidiary Starhome, which provides enhanced services to cellular operators, today dismissed 28 employees from all divisions, 17% of the 135-strong work force, all in Israel.
To date, Starhome had managed to avoid taking efficiency measures, such as cutting staff or wages.
CEO Carmel Sofer attributed the dismissals to the firm's effort to attain profitability this year, and to its decision to focus on profit sources and future corporate development.
He said that the company is in transition to development and to providing enhanced services also to local customers of mobile providers during their stay in the country.
Starhome has 20 customers in Europe, the Far East, and South Africa. The customers are connected through an Internet protocol network, which Starhome runs and operates.
Comverse Technology provides enhanced services systems and applications to telecom companies.
