Computer Sciences Beats Third Quarter Estimates

beat analyst expectations in the third quarter, but said it expects full year results to come in at the low end of the company's November guidance.

For the third quarter, the computer services company earned $87.1 million, or 51 cents a share, up 33% from $65.6 million, or 38 cents a share, in the year ago quarter. According to Thomson Financial/First Call, analysts had been expecting 50 cents a share.

Revenue was up 9% to $2.9 billion from $2.67 billion last year.

The company also said 2002 year-end earnings will be between $2 and $2.10 a share, at the low end of the company's previous guidance. Analysts are expecting $1.87 for the year, according to First Call.

Shares of Computer Sciences were recently up 2.2% to $45.50 in Instinet premarket trading after closing at $44.50 Thursday.
