Computer Sciences Adds Datatrac

The buy better positions the IT company for federal government business.

Datatrac Information Services

, a privately held software company, for an undisclosed sum, it said Thursday.

CSC is acquiring the Richardson, Texas-based company to boost its government business. Datatrac specializes in identity-management and credentialing software and services.

The deal should be accretive to earnings in the first year, CSC said.

James Sheaffer, president of CSC's federal business unit, said the acquisition will help CSC compete for contracts with the U.S. Dept. of Homeland Security and other government agencies.

Datatrac, which has 1,800 employees in seven states, will function as a part of the company's Enforcement, Security and Intelligence division.

CSC shares recently added 21 cents to $53.23 in light trading.
