China Mobile Profit Rises 2.3%

, the world's No. 1 mobile operator by users, said profit in 2009 rose 2.3% to 115.2 billion yuan ($16.88 billion) as margins increased 25.5%.
Revenue increased 9.8% to 452.1 billion yuan.
Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization rose 5.9% to 229 billion yuan.
"Underpinned by its solid capital structure and strong financial position, the group is well-positioned to achieve continued healthy growth and to effectively safeguard against operational risks," China Mobile said in a statement Thursday.
China Mobile said its total customer base at the end of 2009 reached 522 million, of which 65.03 million were net additions.
