AT&T (T) - Get Report and Avaya (AV) set a global strategic alliance to help businesses and government agencies move to Internet calling.

The companies said they'll offer customers comprehensive migration to Internet protocol telephony and the associated local area network and wireless LAN infrastructure.

"By giving customers a single point of contact for virtually every aspect of this migration, including design, implementation, operation, ongoing management and maintenance, the alliance is intended to accelerate global VoIP and IP telephony deployments and simplify the integration with traditional circuit-switched enterprise voice networks," they claimed.
