Since November 1999, the design and drafting software developer has repurchased 13.9 million shares. With the buyback plan announced Thursday, Autodesk still has the authorization to repurchase a total of 8 million shares. The company, which is based in San Rafael, Calif., has about 56.4 million shares outstanding.
Autodesk also said shareholders of record April 6 will receive a quarterly cash dividend of 6 cents a share, payable on April 20.
trading, Autodesk gained 94 cents, or 3%, to $31.75.
