Arison group may bid for Zim shippers, reports press

The group may face antitrust objections due to holdings in Carnival Cruise line
Publish date:

The Arison group may bid to buy control over the state-owned Zim shipping company, reports Ma'ariv.

The state closed its tender for Zim on July 26. Four Israeli and other bidders showed up.

The other major shareholder in Zim is the Israel Corporation.

Government Companies Authority General Manager Yaron Jacobs declined to confirm whether he would allow the Arison group to table a late bid.

The Arison group is concerned about possible antitrust hurdles, because it also controls the shipping company Carnival Cruise Lines (NYSE:CCL).
