released software Wednesday that will allow Mac computers using
chips to run
The enabling software is available Wednesday as a public beta download.
"Apple has no desire or plan to sell or support Windows, but many customers have expressed their interest to run Windows on Apple's superior hardware now that we use Intel processors," Apple said.
Apple has been releasing Intel-based Macs for the last three months after announcing the initiative last summer. The first Intel-based notebooks began rolling out in February.
In early trading, Apple soared $3.91, or 6.3%, to $65.08.
