Apple Sees Core Biz Off, No Profits

trading after it warned that the first quarter would be its "first non-profitable quarter" in three years. Apple said revenue for the quarter would total $1 billion and, for 2001, $6 billiion to $6.5 billion, both below Street estimates. The company cited lower-than-expected computer sales and discounted prices.
