Amazon.com  (AMZN - Get Report) is in preliminary talks to partner with Gojek, a ride-hailing service in Indonesia, Asia's most populous country, sources told The Wall Street Journal.

Under the terms in discussion, Amazon would invest in Gojek and use the Jakarta company's delivery infrastructure, the Journal reported.

Gojek reflects the word ojeks, the motorcycle taxis that riders can summon using the local company's platform.

The Gojek app provides transport for people as well as food and package delivery and digital payments, the Journal reported.

Gojek currently is backed by Alphabet's Google (GOOGL - Get Report)  and the private-equity firms KKR and Warburg Pincus, the paper said.
