said second-quarter revenue and earnings will be lower than previously expected, as the company couldn't escape mounting weakness in the telecommunications sector.
The company expects revenue for the second quarter ending Dec. 1 of about $785 million to $800 million. Excluding exited product lines, 3Com expects ongoing businesses to account for about $765 million to $780 million in sales. In September, the company targeted $870 million to $910 million in sales.
Revenue in that range should result in a pro forma loss of 19 cents to 23 cents a share, much wider than the previously targeted loss of 7 cents to 9 cents a share. Analysts expect the company to lose 8 cents a share for the quarter, according to
