The tech-heavy Nasdaq touched a record high Wednesday thanks to a strong surge in tech stocks before falling back into negative territory. 

But the tech sector wasn't the only segment gaining ahead of the Thanksgiving break. Here's a list of the stocks that reached record highs Wednesday. 

FANG Stocks

FANG has had an impressive run-up in recent quarters and Wednesday's trading saw more of the same for the group's most expensive security, Amazon.com  (AMZN - Get Report)

Amazon shares touched a record high of $1,152.07 per share intraday. 

Action Alerts PLUS holding Apple (AAPL - Get Report) was also flirting with an all-time high Wednesday. The stock rose as high as $175 Wednesday, just short of $176.24 level it reached two weeks ago. 

Technology

Fellow Action Alerts PLUS holding Nvidia (NVDA - Get Report) opened trading at an all-time high of $217 before declining 0.8% to $214.22.

Video game maker Activision Blizzard (ATVI - Get Report) was also close to reaching its record high of $66.87. Activision shares reached a high of $66.31, but was trading below $66 Wednesday afternoon. 

Basic Materials 

Philadelphia-based paint coating company Axalta Coating Systems (AXTA - Get Report) was up more than 5% to $36.10 Wednesday afternoon, blowing past its previous record high. The increase came after rival Akzo Nobel (AKZOY) dropped its bid for the company following a competing bid from Japan's Nippon Paint Holdings (NPCPF) . Reports are that Nippon is offering $8.2 billion for the company.
